Cycling Course Opening with a Signal Effect
A traffic education project supported by SWARCO Road Marking Systems has now been presented to the public. It has shown that with a lot of commitment and high-quality road markings, a valuable contribution can be made to the traffic safety of tomorrow.
The bicycle course at the Herten-Mitte Primary School (Germany) was recently officially opened with a festive inauguration ceremony. The practice track for young cyclists had already been tested and used for an entire school year – with great enthusiasm and even more excitement. With the inauguration, this important project, in which SWARCO Road Marking Systems played a key role, is now also visible to the public.
Live demonstration
All the institutions involved were represented at the official inauguration – SWARCO was represented by Markus Bretscher, Florian Fischer, and Patrick Schaper from the Recklinghausen site. Two fourth-grade classes demonstrated how the course is already being used in class. It became clear how the commitment of SWARCO colleagues has transformed the schoolyard into a realistic traffic area with a roundabout, stop lines, crosswalks, and traffic signs.
The new course is not only popular with the children, but also makes life easier for the teachers: The time-consuming preparatory work with chalk and cones is now a thing of the past – today, everyone just grabs their bikes and the training can begin.

A project with potential
The reactions on site show that this project is perceived as a real added value for traffic education – not only at the Herten-Mitte Primary School (Germany) itself. The newly designed area was already used by surrounding schools during the trial year. In addition, there have been inquiries from other schools in the area that are interested in the concept. The school board even announced that, due to the success of this initiative, a permanently available practice area is already being considered.

Thermoplastic marking systems are easy to process. Thanks to short curing times, they can be driven on quickly, minimizing traffic disruption. Flexibly adjustable layer thicknesses ensure optimum performance, which can be supported by integrated premixed reflective glass beads for a long service life.

These markings can be customized and cut to size at the factory. This makes them quick and easy to apply: after a short preparation time, the material only needs to be heated.

The prefabricated markings are available in a variety of colors and are ideal for designing traffic signs, creative play areas, or completely customized designs.
To use SWARCO PREFORMED, all you need is a gas burner, a broom, chalk, and, if necessary, a spray. A primer can also be used for optimum adhesion to the surface.
