After his successful internship in 2019, Max has started as a Group Controller. Today he talks about SWARCO as an employer in this interview.
Cooperation with schools and universities
Shaping the future together.
SWARCO regularly opens the doors of SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD in Wattens to school and university students. Our goal is to combine theory with practice, inspire young people about the mobility of tomorrow, and give them a direct insight into our working world.
Whether through guided tours, guest lectures, or practical workshops, our collaborations with educational institutions create added value for both sides: young talents gain inspiration and insights into our innovative technologies, while we gain valuable feedback on the expectations of the next generation in the job market.
Strong partnerships with universities
In addition to individual events, we maintain close and sustainable cooperation as a premium partner with three universities.

Meet & Match career fair - FH Kufstein
Career fairs are on the agenda every year. They give us the opportunity to talk to students, answer questions, and provide insights into working life at our company.

MCI Recruiting Forum - Innsbruck
Our wheel of fortune always ensures a relaxed start.
In addition to the fun, however, our main focus is on personal exchange: we provide insights into our working world, including entry-level opportunities and career paths.
These collaborations are an important foundation of our employer branding activities in Tyrol and offer us the opportunity to engage in regular direct exchange with young talent.

Our highlights so far
Visit to the MCI HR & IT degree program

We welcomed students from MCI | The Entrepreneurial School to SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD.
After an exciting tour of our diverse product and solution portfolio, our guests gained insights into our HR and recruiting work. The focus was on discussing the expectations young talents have of modern employers.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive—a sign that SWARCO is perceived as an innovative and attractive employer.
>>The event was very well received by the students and left an extremely positive impression of SWARCO. <<

BMW guest lecture with the University of Innsbruck

It has become a tradition for Prof. Markus Mailer from the Intelligent Transportation Systems department at the University of Innsbruck to transform SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD into a lecture hall in the spring. This year, students gathered at SWARCO to hear from BMW development engineers Dr. Ulla Ahlers and Dr. Irina Koller-Matschke in Munich about the future of mobility. Topics such as electromobility, bidirectional charging, fleet data, and smart city concepts impressively demonstrated how closely vehicle and traffic infrastructure interact. A joint lunch provided an opportunity for personal exchange and in-depth discussions. After a tour of SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD, the event concluded with a joint lunch. This type of off-campus lecture will definitely be on the program again next year.

Business breakfast at MCI with SWARCO experts

We also regularly organize events such as business breakfasts.
In this pleasant atmosphere, we enjoy taking the time to talk - whether about career opportunities, current projects, or exciting entry-level opportunities. Breakfast often creates a more relaxed atmosphere, which encourages students to ask specific questions and gain an honest insight into our working world.
Such encounters show us time and again how valuable direct exchange between companies and young talent is: because today's ideas and perspectives are tomorrow's innovations.

FH Kufstein Tirol: Insights into the future of traffic management
We welcomed students from the International Economics and Management program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein and Dr. Dietrich to our SWARCO TRAFFIC WORLD.
The highlights of such days:
- Open discussions about the expectations young talents have of future employers
- Creative small group work on current challenges in international competition
- Practical insights into our traffic solutions, including augmented reality elements
For us, these encounters are a valuable opportunity to learn about the students' perspectives and ideas and, at the same time, to show them how economic relationships work in practice.
SWARCO VESTGLAS at the AusbildungsVEST 2025 apprenticeship fair

SWARCO VESTGLAS participated for the first time in the AusbildungsVEST 2025 apprenticeship fair in Recklinghausen, Germany.
Many students visited the stand to find out more about the apprenticeships on offer:
- industrial clerk and
- mechatronics engineer
Exciting discussions were held, questions were answered, and initial contacts were made for internships and taster days. Events like this help us to inspire young talent.
The fair also provided a great opportunity to raise awareness of our company and our products. We were particularly pleased to see the young people's keen interest in practical insights into our working world. We are already looking forward to participating again and attracting even more young people to train with us.
Job fair in Limburg, Germany – SWARCO was there!

SWARCO LIMBURGER LACKFABRIK was represented as an exhibitor and was able to talk to numerous interested parties at its booth. Job seekers were able to learn more about SWARCO and the topic of road marking, while also finding out about the development opportunities offered at the Diez site.
Two of our trainees gave a very professional presentation on how training in the office and laboratory works in theory and practice. Meanwhile, our colleague from the HR department answered questions about the company and the application process.
Many visitors found it particularly exciting that our marking systems are not only visible on roads and highways in everyday life, but are also used in areas such as airports, bike paths, and parking lots. This allowed us to show that there is much more to the topic of “road marking” than meets the eye.

Future Day - HAK Waidhofen meets SWARCO

At SWARCO, we regularly hold exciting events with schools that focus on sustainability, the circular economy, and responsible behavior. After a look behind the scenes, our colleagues present topics such as green products and corporate social responsibility.
The students contribute their own perspectives, for example on questions such as:
- What makes a company sustainable?
- What does good CSR communication look like?
- What is important to me in my future workplace?
These events offer the opportunity to get young people excited about future topics and discuss exciting ideas together. At the same time, they strengthen the connection between school and business and provide insights into the world of SWARCO.

Giving Back | Bike course opens

We regularly support projects that benefit children and young people. These include initiatives that promote road safety and teach important skills in a playful way.
The Giving Back project was officially launched in the schoolyard of Herten-Mitte Elementary School in Germany, and three colleagues from SWARCO VESTGLAS who were involved in the project were there. As part of the project, a bicycle training course was set up. They received a lot of positive feedback from students, teachers, and the city's school board.
It is particularly gratifying that this initiative has already sparked the interest of other schools. There are even discussions about planning a permanent bicycle course for the city – with SWARCO Road Marking Systems as a possible consulting partner.
Such commitments not only resonate strongly with schools and communities, but also demonstrate how we can take joint responsibility for society.
Thesis at SWARCO Road Marking Systems
As part of our collaboration with students, we regularly offer the opportunity to write practical theses directly at SWARCO. Recently, two HTL students completed their diploma thesis on bulk material processing with us.
Such projects demonstrate how valuable the exchange between science and practice is and how innovative ideas can be directly incorporated into our working environment.
The two students presented their findings to us and provided exciting insights into their work. We are delighted to have been able to support them in their research and accompany them with our expertise. At the same time, we also benefit from the fresh perspectives and new approaches that young talents bring with them. Such collaborations are a win-win for both sides, and we look forward to further joint projects.
Practical lecture with environmental engineering students

Time and again, our SWARCO transforms into a lively place of learning. This was also the case when Prof. Mailer from the Institute for Infrastructure (University of Innsbruck) visited us with his environmental engineering students, accompanied by representatives of the Austrian Transport Science Society.
The program included exciting insights into our technologies: from augmented reality and LED signal technology to glass beads and road markings. The day was rounded off with guest lectures from BMW Munich, which highlighted the transformation from car manufacturer to mobility service provider.
The day was rounded off with a joint lunch and feedback at our wall – a wonderful sign of how practical exchange between science, industry, and students can be successful.

Looking ahead
The positive feedback from all events confirms our belief that educational partnerships are a key component of innovation and future viability. We look forward to continuing to welcome school pupils, students, and teachers to our company in the future - with exciting programs, practical insights, and valuable dialogues.
