From entry level to leadership role
A company with personality: "My first impression was one of a family atmosphere and charismatic employees," says Jasmin, describing her first steps at SWARCO. Starting as a front-end developer with back-end experience, her first goal was to familiarise herself with an unfamiliar framework. Today, Jasmin heads the software and SW testing department at SWARCO Futurit in Perchtoldsdorf. Here, software is developed and tested that is used in LED-based traffic signs, among other things. The path to this position was marked by technical know-how, team spirit and the courage to take on responsibility.

“I have to be honest – I'm incredibly proud of how well this team works together!"
Everyday life with high standards
Jasmin's working day is packed with new tasks every day. She starts by checking her email inbox, followed by prioritising current goals, team coordination, support cases, customer requirements and meetings. She often lends a hand with testing tasks herself. What her role essentially entails: "My main task is actually to keep my employees' working environment free of disruptions. In addition, I coordinate all requests to the software department from other areas such as sales, portfolio management and after sales. Promoting the personal and professional development of my employees is also part of my job – as is documenting everything worth knowing about our tasks at SWARCO in a sustainable manner." Despite her many tasks, she never loses sight of the big picture. For Jasmin, it's not just what gets done that counts, but how the team can work: focused, structured and with room for development.
And what does she enjoy most? " Funnily enough, it's the task that most people hate: documentation. Ensuring that company knowledge doesn't get lost is important to me."

Great things happen when we work together
What Jasmin appreciates most is the mix of individual characters in the team. " Each individual has their own strengths and, of course, weaknesses—that's human nature and part of it." Overall, individual strengths increase while weaknesses fade into the background – an effect she enjoys observing time and again. Most decisions are made jointly. This collaboration on an equal footing ensures a high level of commitment. Discussions are a natural part of this: "[...] and they can sometimes be very lively—but we stay on a professional level."
For Jasmin, trust is not just a cliché, but the basis of effective collaboration. " If you show a noticeable distrust of your people, you shouldn't be surprised if they eventually start playing along: ‘Oh, I'm supposed to be unreliable? Challenge accepted!'"
For her, it's clear: leadership means living trust – not exercising control. When asked if there is a moment in the team that has particularly stuck in her memory, she says firmly: "Not really – every day is special." Because real teamwork is not evident in exceptions, but in everyday life.
“I am incredibly happy when I can help improve our processes and enable solutions more quickly and sustainably."
Obstacles that drive progress
Taking over as team leader was a turning point for Jasmin and a real challenge at the same time. At first, her predecessor's shoes seemed big to fill, but she made a conscious decision to take the plunge because she was convinced that "as a team, we can overcome any difficulties." Her leadership style is characterised by a structured environment that provides a basis for freedom. Instead of strict guidelines, she focuses on personal responsibility and development. She makes sure that the team does not lose focus and that their joint work remains sustainable. The pride she feels for her team is noticeable and well-deserved.
Jasmin is someone who not only grows with challenges but actively seeks them out. The leadership training alongside her everyday work was a "sporting decision" for her – little sleep, but every lesson and every cup of coffee was worth it. She has learned that good leadership means allowing individual paths and placing trust in others.

Acting meaningfully, growing proudly
Jasmin is driven by the desire to make processes simpler and more effective, to share knowledge better and to integrate new colleagues more successfully. She is particularly proud that she has taken every step in her career on her own, "without special treatment or shortcuts". Her team also achieves impressive things every day: “Our variable message signs support more than 20 traffic protocols and their variants – that translates to thousands of technical requirements. Added to that are numerous features, special requests, and, last but not least, today's high safety standards. [...] But our small team masters this challenge day after day." The fact that SWARCO has retained its family-like character despite its global size is a decisive factor for her: "This gives us room to get involved and demonstrate commitment. And the security of being allowed to make a mistake once in a while."
Honest advice
Jasmin has clear advice for anyone interested in a similar position: "Be brave - you'll grow with every challenge." She addresses this advice particularly to her female colleagues, as she has repeatedly observed that women tend to question their abilities more critically than their male colleagues. "They're no less competent - just often more reserved." Her appeal is clear: show self-confidence, seize opportunities and go your own way, because that's exactly how development begins.
“Through my efforts, I try to contribute to a professional and positive working environment, so that employees enjoy coming to work."
