SWARCO Employee
Spotlight

Name: Eugen

Position: Warehouse manager

Duties: Receipt, storage and issuing of raw materials, final products and packaging material, management of the logistics equipment, and IBC waste recycling

One word that describes my job: Responsibility

Must-haves: Organizational skills, attention to detail, technical skills, perseverance

Calm, focused and thoughtful – that’s how Eugen approaches his work as a warehouse manager. His professional living room, the various storage areas at the SWARCO site in Târgoviște (Romania), is a place of constant movement. Thanks to the logistics software and his well-trained eye, Eugen keeps track of everything: containers, pallets, finished materials, raw components and packaging. Only with this level of oversight can the daily production of road marking materials and industrial paints in the plant run smoothly.

“Listen to everyone you work with – it’s the only way to find solutions that work for all of them.”

A feel for the important tasks

Eugen’s workplace is a real crossroads: trucks arrive and depart, goods are received, stored and issued. Everything must be in the right place, ready at the right moment, and in exactly the correct quantity. Keeping an overview is essential – and sometimes quick reactions are, too. His day often starts with unloading one or two trucks, sorting the incoming goods together with the forklift driver and then checking the warehouse inventory. Does everything match the system records? At first glance it may sound like routine work, but ensuring a finely tuned production flow requires intuition as well – especially for what needs attention right now. Sometimes that also means lending a hand with maintenance tasks elsewhere in the facility or transporting materials with a forklift truck.

Throughout the day, Eugen checks orders in the warehouse system, releases raw materials for production and ensures that IBC containers are recycled correctly. And if support is needed anywhere in the plant? He’s there. “I’m simply around whenever something needs to be done,” he says – a short statement that reveals a great deal. It’s exactly this attitude that makes people like Eugen invaluable.

A firefighter navigating the flow of materials

Becoming a warehouse manager at SWARCO wasn’t part of a long-term plan. After completing his industrial-focused education, Eugen literally walked through fire for others in his job as a firefighter. In 2023, he moved into a technical company before finally finding his professional home at SWARCO, seeking a secure workplace and new challenges.

His first day brought a lot of new impressions – a full site tour, detailed safety instructions, and many unfamiliar faces. No wonder he doesn’t remember every detail. What stayed with him, however, was the feeling that he had arrived at the right place from day one.

Despite his relatively short time at SWARCO, Eugen has already made a significant impact: the warehouse is now better structured, processes run more efficiently, and inventories are easier to handle. He was part of the team that installed the new cooling system, which simplified many processes. He also contributed ideas on how certain goods could be routed directly to customers, and he helped optimize the receiving areas to speed up the material flow. For someone as tech-oriented as Eugen, these steps felt natural—but they make a huge difference in everyday operations. One of his guiding principles is: “Listen to everyone you work with and find solutions that work for all of them.” And indeed, this mindset runs like a thread through everything he does.

“I don’t just work through individual tasks. I simply do whatever is needed to keep things running.”

Keys to success

Those who assume that technology or physical strength are the most crucial elements of Eugen’s job are mistaken. In a production facility like this, nothing works in isolation. It takes coordination with colleagues, truck drivers and supervisors – and an environment where people can rely on one another. As Eugen puts it, “Nothing in the warehouse happens by chance – order and teamwork are the keys to success.”

If you’re expecting grand announcements about big future plans, you’ll have to wait a long time with Eugen. He has no intention of playing grand overtures without mastering the instruments first. “I want to grow personally, improve my work step by step and help shape meaningful processes in our plant,” he says – the man who keeps the flow of operations running with a well-organized warehouse in Târgoviște. Reliable, versatile and genuinely committed.

“I consider my work successful when processes become easier for everyone involved.”
