OMNIA is a sophisticated software solution and a high level software environment, that provides a homogeneous and user-friendly user interface for different traffic control and traffic management systems, making the operation of a traffic management system of any city or region much more convenient.


OMNIA is the open platform conceived by SWARCO MIZAR, to provide a uniform interface for any number of traffic control and transport management systems which are plugged-in autonomously or integrated within a common architecture. OMNIA offers a user-friendly access and a homogeneous “look and feel” to all the functionalities and objects supported by the systems connected.

The state-of-the-art response to the ever-increasing traffic volumes and daily congestion on today’s roads is an integrated architecture – IRTE, in which ITS applications for Traffic Control, Transport Management, Environment Monitoring and Multimedia Mobility Information can cooperate fully to implement traffic management strategies.

But in multi-application environments it is essential to have a shared interface to the different systems.

The OMNIA concept exploits SWARCO MIZAR’s three decades of experience gained in the fields of traffic control, transport management, mobility information service and integrated ITS architectures. All of the ITS applications offered by SWARCO MIZAR have inherent features making them ideal for integration in the OMNIA platform.


OMNIA is the open platform designed by SWARCO MIZAR to offer a user-friendly and homogeneous access to a wide range of ITS applications.

Based on leading-edge solutions, OMNIA fits with any IRTE - Integrated Road Transport Environment, in which:

  • OMNIA is located at a higher level and provides a homogeneous access to the ITS applications plugged-in
  • the ITS applications carry on their control and management functionalities according to the IRTE concept, and interact with the central operator through OMNIA

The OMNIA user friendly Common GUI offers distributed measurement and supervisory facilities, which provide:

  • more effective and simpler monitoring of the road network and sub-system components
  • a homogeneous interaction with the functionalities and components belonging to the various sub-systems, and a clear display of status and commands

The OMNIA Common GUI is based on state-of-the-art Web Technology and provides high accessibility to the system without requiring any specific configuration of the workstation. Optimised for the most widely used web browsers (Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 2+), the Common GUI provides multi-language support.

OMNIA offers embedded functionalities for the advanced monitoring and management of traffic light controllers, which involve both system component diagnostics and traffic data.

User Interface

OMNIA features a protected Login. Unauthorised access is blocked.
OMNIA GUI permits the operator to interact with the system plugged-in and access real-time and stored data. Diagnostics and traffic data are presented using tables or directly on the Common GUI:

  • Map View: displays the whole network in cartographic form.
  • Intersection View: presents detailed data directly on the intersection map.
  • Signal Group Diagram: status of selected signal groups and selected detectors in a given time period.
  • Time Space Diagram: displays signal changes in several controllers simultaneously and superimposes speed lines to facilitate the analysis of the coordination.
  • Status Reports and Traffic Data Presentation: provide the access to the diagnostic and traffic data archive of the OMNIA system.
