Water-based Alternative for Indoor Markings

Official launch of SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor.

SWARCO Road Marking Systems is expanding its portfolio of indoor markings with SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor. The newly developed system is a water-based alternative to standard solvent-based paints, offering numerous environmental and health benefits with comparable performance.

In industrial, production and logistics environments, floor markings ensure clear orientation, safety and efficiency. They structure traffic routes for people and autonomous vehicles, mark danger areas, escape routes, machine zones or storage areas – and thus create the basis for smooth and safe operational processes. SWARCO Road Marking Systems offers a wide range of different markings for this purpose in its SWARCO SAFETY-LINE product line – including the new SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor, the first water-based paint! The new indoor marking system combines robust performance with modern requirements for processing, operational safety and the most environmentally sound production process possible.

Easy application and short curing times

SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor can be applied with standard marking machines and offers a convenient processing window thanks to its pot life of one day. The marking can be driven over after just 50 minutes. The combination with the matching SWARCO clear coat offers a particularly striking time advantage: the clear coat only takes 25 minutes to cure, which is significantly faster than solvent-based alternatives! The temperature range for processing the material is between +10 °C and +35 °C.

Low emissions, odourless, harmless to health

As a low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) water-based paint, SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor releases significantly fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during processing. This reduces the impact on people and the environment – especially in enclosed spaces or during ongoing operations. The new material also scores points with its neutral odour, meaning that marked areas can be quickly reused without any unpleasant smells.

Reliable and safe

However, the most important feature of a marking material remains its performance: the new 2-component system impresses with its high opacity and good abrasion resistance – especially in combination with a protective clear coat. SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor is suitable for use on concrete and synthetic resin substrates and can also be used in potentially explosive areas. The product is available in white and yellow and in other colours on request.

Part of a second product line

As a water-based and low-VOC indoor marking system, SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor is also a logical addition to the SWARCO ECO-LINE. This product line comprises marking materials that are designed for resource-efficient production and application.

The SWARCO SAFETY-LINE product range

SWARCO SAFETY-LINE products can be used to mark hazard zones and escape and rescue routes reliably and clearly – for greater safety and structure in halls and indoor areas. The extensive range of hall markings offers individually combinable solutions for a wide variety of applications, tailored to specific requirements on site.

The SWARCO ECO-LINE product range

The SWARCO ECO-LINE comprises various marking systems that have been developed and produced with a focus on resource conservation and environmental compatibility. Great importance is attached to ensuring that environmentally friendly production and application do not compromise the performance of the markings. These marking systems – from water-soluble paints and cold-spray plastics to preformed thermoplastics – are aimed at environmentally conscious customers who consider environmental criteria as well as high quality when choosing materials.

FAQs

How does the new SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor differ from standard indoor paints?

Unlike many commercially available, solvent-based indoor markings, SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor uses a water-based formula. This makes the material not only odourless but also low in VOCs, which improves occupational safety and allows it to be used in sensitive indoor areas. In terms of performance (e.g. abrasion resistance and durability), there are no significant differences.

Where can SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor be used?

The material is particularly suitable for use in industrial halls, factory buildings, warehouses, logistics centres and (underground) car parks.

What does VOC mean?

The abbreviation VOC stands for "Volatile Organic Compounds". These are organic chemical substances that evaporate easily at room temperature. They are often found in paints, varnishes, cleaning agents or adhesives. VOCs in high concentrations are considered dangerous as they can be harmful to both human health and the environment. It is therefore advisable to always ensure adequate ventilation when carrying out marking work indoors. As a water-based paint, SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor has a particularly low content of these substances and is therefore considered low in VOCs.

Is special equipment required for the application of SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor?

SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor can be applied using standard marking machines.

How long can SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor be processed?

The shelf life is no different from other indoor markings and is specified as six months. When applying the material, the pot life of one day allows for flexibility in the execution of the marking work.

When is the marking hardened or ready for traffic?

Depending on the prevailing conditions, SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor is hardened and can be driven over again after approx. 50 minutes.

What colours is SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor available in?

Our new water-based product is available in the standard colours white and yellow, as well as in other colours on request. A minimum order quantity applies for custom colours.

Is it advisable to use a clear coat for indoor markings?

The use of a clear coat is advisable in many cases for indoor markings. It forms an additional protective layer over the marking, which better protects the surface from mechanical impact (traffic, cleaning) and dirt deposits. Sealing with clear coat can significantly extend the service life of markings. We therefore recommend the use of SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor clear coat for our water-based indoor paint.

For which substrates is SWARCO AQUALINE ECO 2-C Indoor suitable?

Our new product is suitable for markings on concrete and synthetic resin substrates.

Which products are included in the SWARCO SAFETY-LINE?
