Voices of SWARCO Road Marking Systems: Gary Greksa

Leadership, Legacy, and

Lessons Learned

At SWARCO Road Marking Systems, success isn’t just measured in numbers—it’s measured in people. This month, we’re proud to shine a light on one of the driving forces behind our sales strategy and team spirit. With decades of insight, a deep commitment to leadership, and a legacy built on integrity, our featured employee is much more than a sales leader—he brings his dedication and excellence in all he takes on.

A Legacy of Leadership

For our featured Voice, Gary Greksa, the path to sales began long before he joined SWARCO. Inspired by his grandfather—a successful businessman in Chicago and former Businessman of the Year for the Boy Scouts of America—he was drawn to leadership from an early age. Today, he leads both the Sales and Technical Service Teams at SWARCO Road Marking Systems America, guiding strategy and relationships across the country.

“I’m responsible for all aspects of Road Marking Systems America sales,” Gary explains. “But more than that, I feel a responsibility to everyone in the company. Sales keeps the engine running—we help make sure everyone else stays employed.”

The Power of Support

When asked what he’s most grateful for in his current role, his response is immediate: “The support that leadership has shown. Their confidence in my ability to lead this team means everything."

That same sense of trust is something he now works to instill in others, leading with humility, humor, and wisdom earned from experience.

Wisdom to Work By

One of the things that sets this leader apart is his straightforward, grounded advice:

  • Pay attention to the details.
  • Find a mentor.
  • Always be honest.
  • Outwork the other guy.
  • Don’t be afraid to fail—it’s how we improve.

He also offers a reminder many professionals need to hear: “Your career is what you do, not who you are.” That perspective has kept him balanced through every success and challenge.

Motivation with Meaning

When asked how he stays motivated, his answer reflects his deep understanding of the role sales plays in the broader company ecosystem.

“There’s a weight that comes with the job—but in a good way. I know that what we do affects every other department, every individual. That’s what keeps me moving forward.”

Proudest Accomplishments

Despite a long list of professional achievements, he names his proudest accomplishment as raising three children who have grown into successful, grounded adults. “That’s what really matters,” he says with a smile.

He also takes inspiration from within the company: “Don’t tell him,” he laughs, “but Jon Sproul (former VP SWARCO Road Marking Systems Region America) has taught me a lot. His dedication to SWARCO is inspiring. And Dana Alexander (Customer Service Manager)—her energy and attitude are unmatched.”

A Man of Faith, Family, and Focus

Outside of work, he’s passionate about faith and family. “If I don’t say my wife, I’m in trouble,” he jokes. But there’s a deep sincerity behind the humor—his family is his foundation. His dream destination? The Holy Land—because faith is the most important part of his life.

And as for downtime? “Honestly, I struggle to disconnect. That’s why vacation is so important to me—it’s the only time I can truly let go.”

Final Thought

Whether it’s closing a deal, mentoring a team member, or simply sharing a laugh, this month’s Voice of SWARCO Road Marking Systems America reminds us that great leadership is about more than performance—it’s about passion, purpose, and staying grounded in what matters most.
