What you will do
We have a vacancy for a Field Service Technician. This is a field-based role covering the Crawley, Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone area, with hybrid working and occasional travel as required.
In this role, you will provide technical support for EV charging infrastructure, ensuring reliable operation and high levels of customer satisfaction. Acting as a key technical contact, you will troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues, offering both remote and on-site support to customers and internal teams.
You will also support wider service and contract activities, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and resolving recurring technical challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support to EV charging customers, operators, and end users
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Supporting Service and Contracts teams to maximise operational efficiency
- Delivering remote support via phone, email, and remote desktop tools
- Maintaining accurate records within ticketing and service management systems
- Contributing to knowledge base documentation and process improvements
- Supporting on-site troubleshooting where required
- Building strong customer relationships through high-quality service delivery
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Respond to customer technical queries and support requests
- Troubleshoot EV charging equipment and associated systems
- Provide step-by-step guidance to customers for issue resolution
- Log and update service tickets and customer interactions
- Escalate complex issues where necessary
- Collaborate with internal engineering and service teams
- Monitor recurring issues and suggest improvements
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation
You may also:
- Travel occasionally to customer sites for hands-on support
- Assist with wider service and contract-related tasks
- Support out-of-hours activities where required to meet customer needs
Profile
What we are looking for
• At least 2 years’ experience in technical support or field service roles, preferably in automotive, clean energy, or EV charging
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to explain technical information to customers with varying technical knowledge
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality service
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to travel occasionally for on-site support
• Willingness to work outside regular business hours where required
