From intern to key position
At SWARCO Netherlands, we are working on the future of mobility. A dynamic environment in which we work on a wide range of projects throughout the country: from the management and maintenance of public lighting, bridges, tunnels, locks and traffic guidance systems to the modernisation of the runway lighting system at Schiphol. To make these projects a success, we need people with different talents, expertise and ambitions.

Adirson has worked at SWARCO since 2000 and knows better than anyone what the dynamic environment is like. "Our enthusiastic and diverse team creates a relaxed atmosphere without stress, where we work seriously and still always have time for a joke. He started as a trainee at SWARCO and then completed a course to become a mechanic. An internal application landed him in the Infra Projects department. There he works as a Mobility Supervisor on tunnels, bridges, locks, public lighting and traffic guidance systems, among other things. Following a major project involving public lighting and traffic guidance systems, as well as the renovation of the Heinenoord Tunnel, he is currently working on the N206 HOV lane and the N206 Europaweg. As part of these efforts, the public lighting and traffic control systems are being renewed.

Planning, coordination and implementation - no two days are the same

Once the materials are available on site, the work begins. Adirson can be found outside at the project site to coordinate the installation of the cabinets, the laying of cables and the testing of connections, for example. "I find it fun and challenging that my work is so varied. No two days are the same."

Safety first

"I am one of the contact persons in the area of safety. Colleagues can come to me with all their questions about safety or a potentially unsafe situation. In this way, I play an active role in the organisation's safety awareness." He also carries out a monthly workplace inspection. Therefore, security is an important part of Adirson's work.

Team spirit and expertise

What Adirson particularly enjoys about his work are his colleagues. "The working atmosphere is very good. I work in a fun and enthusiastic team made up of people of different ages and years of professional experience. They are true professionals who still appreciate a joke now and then."

Becoming an all-rounder

Adirson's ambitions for the coming years? "I want to become even more of an all-rounder so that I can alternate between infra projects for public lighting, traffic guidance systems and tunnels. This will make my work even more varied and I can be deployed more widely."
