What you will do
We have a vacancy for a TS Roadside Technician based in Cork. This is a field-based, hands-on role working on roadside technology infrastructure across the region.
In this role, you will install, maintain, and repair roadside equipment such as electronic signage, cameras, detection systems, and communications hardware. Working outdoors and at customer sites, you will support preventative maintenance programmes, respond to faults, and ensure critical roadside systems remain operational.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, working safely in live roadside environments, and supporting project installations alongside other technicians and engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing and commissioning roadside electronic equipment including CCTV, VMS, and detection systems
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to field-based equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Installing and maintaining communications and network hardware in roadside cabinets
- Supporting new project installations and system upgrades
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and company procedures
- Maintaining accurate fault records and service documentation
- Liaising with customers and internal teams regarding works and progress
- Supporting apprentices and trainee technicians on site
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Travel to roadside locations to carry out maintenance and repair work
- Install and configure field-based traffic technology equipment
- Diagnose electrical, communications, and hardware faults
- Update fault management systems and service records
- Ensure PPE and RAMS requirements are followed at all times
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in safe condition
- Complete project paperwork accurately and on time
- Work in line with ISO quality, safety, and environmental standards
You may also:
- Participate in a standby / callout rota
- Attend emergency breakdowns outside normal working hours
- Assist with commissioning of new installations
- Attend training courses and toolbox talks
- Support the development of apprentices on site
Profile
What we are looking for
• Experience working in a field-based or roadside environment
• Practical experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls, or Instrumentation
• Experience working with fibre optic networks (OTDR/ILM testing & fusion splicing)
• Understanding of IP networks and configuration
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
• Experience working on roadside infrastructure and associated H&S procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to participate in standby / callout rota
• Full driving licence
• Strong safety awareness
• Safe manual handling skills
• Willingness to learn and undertake new challenges
