"Hi,
My name is Jonas - I am a master’s student in Information Systems at the University of Innsbruck. For my master’s thesis, I wanted to apply theoretical knowledge learned at university in a practical context. This motivation led me to SWARCO, where I am writing my thesis about supplier qualification at the procurement department.
From the beginning, I appreciated the modern office environment and warm welcome from my colleagues. I enjoy shared lunch breaks and team events, which made collaboration more relaxed and personal. The SWARCO office is in Wattens, within easy commuting distance from Innsbruck, and offers scenic mountain views. My work involves research, interviews, and data analysis, with guidance from my supervisor at SWARCO, who provides valuable input during our regular meetings to review progress and plan next steps. The internship further gives me valuable insights into the procurement practices of several global SWARCO entities. By participating in regular meetings with the procurement team, I gain an overview of current challenges facing procurement organizations and the day-to-day work of my colleagues.
Working on a complex project like this is challenging but also a good opportunity to learn and develop. Clear deadlines and planning help to manage the project workload without feeling overwhelmed. Looking ahead, completing my master’s thesis is a key milestone. I am proud that the project contributes to a standardized supplier qualification process that can be used across multiple procurement organizations. Final thesis at Road Marking Systems
As part of our collaboration with students, we regularly offer the opportunity to complete practical final theses directly at SWARCO. Recently, two HTL students completed their diploma thesis with us on the topic of bulk material processing.
Projects like these demonstrate the great value of the exchange between academia and practice, and how innovative ideas can flow directly into our daily work.
The two students presented their results to us and provided fascinating insights into their research. We are very pleased that we were able to support them in their project and accompany them with our expertise. At the same time, we also benefit from the fresh perspectives and new approaches that young talents bring with them. Collaborations like this are a win-win situation, and we are already looking forward to future joint projects.
