Connected and Automated Driving
C-ITS / V2X
Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) connect vehicles to other vehicles, roadside infrastructure, road users – such as pedestrians and cyclists – and cloud-based services. Integrating a variety of ITS sub-systems with Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) promises to significantly improve mobility, reduce congestion, and save lives by significantly reducing traffic incidents.
As a global leader in roadside infrastructure and traffic data, SWARCO is participating in groundbreaking CAV trials in Europe and the United States showcasing how the integration of real-time traffic signal timing is a critical part of countless connected applications.
To that end, SWARCO has partnered with auto manufacturers, leaders in DSRC and Cellular-V2X (C-V2X) communications, universities, and government agencies to showcase how C-ITS/V2X can optimize traffic flow, improve safety, and pave the path towards automated driving.
Within C-ITS, standards are introduced, which support Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) communication. These include communication technologies for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) and in future Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P).
