INTERURBAN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, Saudi Arabia, Dhahran

Saudi Aramco, 2004-2005

Challenge

The state-owned Saudi Arabian company “Saudi Aramco”, based in Dhahran, is currently the largest oil corporation in the world. The group has a worldwide network of refineries and plants for mining and the processing of oil and gas, and pipelines for their transportation. The major objectives of this project were the installation of surveillance cameras for the 25 km² company premises with a minimum number of cameras with a special focus on sensible and strategic points.

Details

The project was realised with our local partner, the “Almisehal Group” from Saudi Arabia, including the following elements:

  • Video centre
  • 5 secondary centres
  • Fibre optical network (25 km²)
  • 5 highly precise pan-tilt-camera units [Infrared beam with 500 m range, extended temperature range up to +70°, extended zoom, integrated camera cleaning system]

Benefits

  • Reliable and centralised control
  • Live streaming (real time) of the cameras guaranteed over great distances
  • Night visibility up to 500 m
  • The whole system is very flexible and easy to handle
  • Monitoring of “sensible areas” (e.g. entrances, oil tanks, …) as easily and quickly as possible
