Challenge

The City of Berlin already has a highly complex transportation infrastructure with various forms of urban mobility (e.g. inner-city motorways). SWARCO accepted the challenge to install, renovate and also offer service and supply of a complete urban traffic control system for the area of Berlin City.

Details

SWARCO’s solution includes the supply, installation, engineering, configuration, testing, operation, maintenance and service of:

  • 1 urban traffic control centre (hardware and software)
  • Centralization of 450 coordinated intersections (hardware and software) [Including traffic light controllers, traffic sensors and communication devices]
  • 4,700 vehicle loop detectors
  • 60 video detection cameras
  • 50 signalisation devices for blind persons
  • Replacement of all old signals (on modernised installations) with environmentally friendly LED technology (approx. 1,400 signals)
  • Service & maintenance and spare parts for the maintenance period
