COMPASS is SWARCO MIZAR’s Traffic Diversion and Collective Information system. It improves efficiency in traffic management by giving drivers guidance, recommendations (e.g. speed) and information through variable message signs (VMS).
The messages displayed are produced in real-time on the basis of:
- scenarios pre-defined by the Road Network Operator
- specific requirements defined by the Operator
- strategic guidelines produced by external supervisory systems.
- panels of any type: text, pictograms, special messages and mixed forms
- open and scalable architecture which supports modular and flexible implementation
- can be connected with other systems (e.g. Traffic Control, Area Traffic Supervisor, Parking Guidance) in order to share the traffic management and information strategies.
- fully integrated with UTOPIA, but can also be adapted to interface with other (non proprietary) UTC systems.
