DANISH TECHNOLOGY FOR TBILISI

Odense-based SWARCO TECHNOLOGY ApS and its local partner in Georgia, Crossroad Ltd., recently put into operation the first vehicle-actuated traffic lights in Tbilisi. The successful implementation based on SWARCO's intelligent ITC-2 controller and traffic video detection is the answer to the increasing traffic problems at one of the most important Tbilisi intersections, Gmirta Moedani.

"As one of the latest developments of traffic controllers from SWARCO, the ITC-2 is modular in design and can be configured for all types of intersections. Using TCP/IP or 3G modem, it can be directly connected to many control and monitoring systems", says engineer Piotr Kaminski of SWARCO TECHNOLOGY. The proposed traffic solution has been very well received both by the drivers and the Tbilisi Transport Department. The new intersection with video-detected traffic and better traffic flow also got a lot of publicity on the national Georgian TV.
