About SWARCO RECYCLING GmbH

TOO GOOD TO THROW AWAY: Waste glass is a valuable secondary raw material for the production of new glass bottles, storage jars, and other similar products.

The potential, in terms of environmental sustainment, is obvious if one considers that in Austria alone over 200,000 tons of used glass is collected annually. Waste glass replaces up to 90% of the primary raw materials needed to make new glass products - raw material that otherwise would have to be extracted from nature.

SWARCO RECYCLING, located in Wattens, Tyrol, has been active in this industry since 1982. The service encompasses the rental or sale of special containers to Tyrolean communities and businesses, the regular emptying, temporary storage and shipment to the glass producers.

Besides collecting hollow glass, SWARCO RECYCLING also gathers and disposes of flat glass fragments (e.g. window glass, windshields or mixed glass fragments). Flat glass, or cullet, is the key raw material used for the production of high quality micro glass beads that are added to road markings or applied in the surface finishing industry as a blasting material.
