Preformed Thermoplastic
High performance pavement marking lines, legends and symbols
SWARCO Preformed Thermoplastic is a durable pavement marking system where thermoplastic lane lines,
legends and symbols are supplied pre-cut and can be easily installed without specialized equipment. Preformed
thermoplastic pavement marking material combines the convenience of pre-cut markings with the performance
qualities of hot applied thermoplastic.
Engineered for enhanced visibility both day and night, SWARCO preformed thermoplastic pavement markings
are made with SWARCO‘S brilliant glass beads which are distributed throughout the material during the manufacturing
process. As the material wears down additional glass beads are exposed thus ensuring exceptional
retroreflectivity during the life of the preformed thermoplastic pavement marking.
- Available in 90 and 125 mil thickness
- Durable long term performance provides economical investment
- Last 8 to 10 times longer than standard traffic paint
- Intermix beads provide reflectivity throughout life of the line
- Easily installed, no specialized equipment required
- Legends and Symbols come precut to MUTCD standards
- Can be installed at temperatures down to 32°F for a longer striping season
- Environmentally friendly with zero VOC and heavy metal free pigments
| DESCRIPTION |
Preformed sheets of white or yellow preformed thermoplastic. |
| FUNCTION |
Used as pavement markings, lane delineations, stop bars, legends & symbols, etc. |
| SPECIFICATION |
AASHTO M-249 or as modified to meet specification requirements. |
| TECHNICAL DATA |
|
|
Color |
Manufactured to conform to standard traffic marking color requirements. |
|
Skid Resistance |
Minimum Initial BPN>45 |
| Application Condition |
The road surface should be free of moisture, grease, loose dirt or particulate matter, or other substances which may hinder the mechanical bond to the surface.
The road should be pre-heated to an adequate temperature, and after installation is complete, the thermoplastic should be allowed to cool sufficiently so as to not incur structural deformation, compression, movement, or dirt-pickup. |
| Application Temperature |
The road surface should be pre-heated to approximately 275°F. The preformed thermoplastic should then be heated, after being set in place, to approximately 300°F, or until the thermoplastic begins to conform to the road surface underneath. Before installing read “Application Instructions“. |
| Storage |
Preformed thermoplastic should be stored indoors at a minimum temperature of 50°F. |
| Shelf Life |
2 years |
